Impress Your Guests: 5 Amazing Party Tricks to Teach Your Dog
Who doesn’t love to pull out an impressive party trick during a festive holiday gathering? It’s hard to imagine something more entertaining than effortlessly balancing a glass of wine on your elbow or doing a perfect moonwalk. However, we’re dog people at Bil-Jac. For us, there is nothing more exciting than a Poodle “playing dead” or a Greyhound taking a bow.
If you’re ready to impress your friends and family all year-round, here are five fun tricks to teach your dog.
Teach Your Dog to Sit
If your furry friend is still a puppy, or maybe just new to tricks, it is best to start with the basics. Teaching your dog to sit is not only a fun way to impress your guests, but it can also come in handy during day-to-day activities.
On our YouTube channel, Professional Animal trainer and TV Show Host Joel Silverman offers some helpful steps to teach your dog to sit. What is his secret to success? Bil-Jac Little-Jacs Training Treats!
Teach Your Dog to Take a Bow
Once you and your pup have mastered “sit,” you can move on to more complicated stunts. One of our favorite tricks is to take a bow. Is there anything cuter than a four-legged friend bowing before a treat or after performing a series of tricks for your guests?
To master this trick, follow along with our video on training your dog to bow. There, Silverman will walk you through everything you need to know ahead of time so your pup will be bowing before you know it.
Teach Your Dog to Kiss
Not everyone loves dog kisses, so helping your furry friend learn when to give a smooch and when not to can be extremely beneficial for not just you, but your visitors as well.
In our Bil-Jac Training Tips video, Silverman uses our training treats to break down every step you need to take to properly train your pooch to give kisses on command.
Teach Your Dog to “Play Dead”
“Playing dead” is probably one of the most iconic tricks you can teach your pet. At Bil-Jac, we sometimes call this trick “lay on your side” or “play opossum.” Whatever you call it, the result is always the same: a roar of applause and laughter!
This trick can be broken down into seven steps:
- Lay down
- Stay
- Straighten up
- Repeat
- Repeat again (and again)
- Move back
- Master the trick
Use these simple moves to help your pup become such a convincing actor they may just become the next big Hollywood starlet!
Teach Your Dog to Wave
So, your furry friend just dazzled all your friends and family and now they’re ready to exit the stage. What better way to mark the end of the show than a wave?
Whether your guests are coming or going, your pup is sure to delight everyone from the neighborhood mailman to the cashier at the pet store after learning to wave in just four easy steps.
