A lively, affectionate and devoted companion dog often mistaken for the Pomeranian. While too small to be used as a guard dog, the Volpino is an excellent watch dog that will bark to warn you of a stranger or disturbance. This breed is easy to train.

Compatibility with Kids

Good with children.

History

The Volpino first became popular among women in Renaissance Italy as a companion dog. It is thought that the Volpino predates the development of the Pomeranian in Germany -- it's often mistaken for this breed.
