History
This breed originated in the Netherlands during the 1800s where it was bred to be an all-purpose farm dog. Difficulties in breeding standards has hindered its popularity. Although it is related to the Belgian Shepherd, it has more German Shepherd ancestry.

This is an extremely rare breed that is normally only found in its native country. Only about 400 puppies are registered each year.
