Exercise Needs

The Afghan Hound will need daily vigorous exercise. Longer walks are recommended. Wearing a leash for walks is recommended.

Grooming Needs

Regular brushing and combing every few days is necessary for your Afghan Hound. To maintain the long, fuzzy coats they do recommended to have regular grooming such as dedicating a few hours a week of brushing their coats along with shampooing and conditioning.

Temperament

The Afghan Hound is a hunter at heart. Aloof, dignified and somewhat independent or clownish.

Compatibility with Kids

Friendly around kids but supervision around young children is recommended.

History

Thousands of years ago the Afghan Hound breed originated in remote areas of Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan.  Originally used by nomadic tribes for hunting gazelle and rabbits.
