Good with children. Loyal & affectionate
The Skye Terrier is named after the region where the breed originated: the Isle of Skye. One of Scotland's oldest and purest Terriers, the Skye Terrier has been around since the 1500s. However, it wasn't until Queen Victoria fancied these cute pups that the breed became popular -- especially among royalty and the upper class. The AKC recognized the breed in 1887. However, its popularity has waned and today it is one of the least known terrier breeds.
