The Ibizan Hound will need 2 - 3 long walks a day. This breed has plenty of stamina and speed, and will make a good running partner (as long as you use a leash). Because Ibizan Hounds are extremely fast, they are difficult to capture if they run away.
Both shorthaired and wirehaired versions are easy to groom.
The Ibizan Hound is quiet, polite, clean and somewhat independent. This breed is affectionate toward its owners, but shy with strangers. The Ibizan Hound's gentle nature makes it good with children and other dogs, but its instincts as a sighthound will cause it to chase smaller animals like cats. Ibizan Hounds are pack dogs, and they consider their human family to be "the pack." New babies and new dogs (preferably puppies) must be introduced slowly into the "pack." The breed's strong "chase" instinct and disregard for the hazards of traffic is a dangerous combination. City environments are not ideal. Even in the country, the Ibizan Hound can jump a 4-foot fence in a single leap. No matter where the Ibizan lives, it should be on a leash at all times when outside. Invisible fences are most effective.
