Wild Dingoes breed once per year, rarely bark and have an independent temperament. They are not considered domesticated and are not recommended as pets. Experienced dog owners may find it possible to domesticate a Dingo if it is adopted at a very young age. However, this is not recommended. They tend to travel in pairs or family groups, rather than packs. This pack animal is more independent than domesticated dogs. Generally does not bark and mates for life.

The Dingo is known as a primitive breed because it is a wild dog at an early / arrested stage of domestication. It is probably a descendant of the Indian wolf (Canis lupus pallipes). A recent DNA study suggests the Dingo originated around 3000 B.C. Today Dingoes are found in Australia and Southeast Asia forests. The breed is named in the native language of the Eora Aboriginal tribe, the original inhabitants of Sydney.
